Professional Experience
Dr. Houston began her psychology practice over thirty years ago as Vice-President of Center for Family Development, a network of five mental health clinics across
San Diego County. She continues to provide interventions for a broad spectrum of adjustment challenges in her private practice. Over this period she has provided hundreds of workshops and seminars focused on team building, communication, self-management and stress reduction strategies, all designed to promote a healthy personal adjustment, efficient work performance and healthy work-life balance.
Dr. Houston's experience includes Associate Graduate Faculty in Psychology at Alliant University and adjunct faculty positions at California School of Professional
Psychology, Miles College, Jefferson State Community College and National University. Dr. Houston also held positions as Director of Counseling at U.S. International
University, Chief Psychologist at Kansas State Rehabilitation Services, Mental Health Consultant for Neighborhood House Association, Staff Psychologist at the U.S.
Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons, and her first professional job as Psychology Research Technician at a Veterans Administration Hospital.
Current Professional Roles
Dr. Houston is founder and CEO of Psychology Consultation Services, Inc., a Professional Corporation in San Diego, California. In addition to her psychology
practice in which she provides psychotherapy for adults, couples and families, she is Regional Testing Psychologist for the National Football League (since 1997),
providing comprehensive psychological evaluations for professional football players. As a Certified Executive Leadership Coach at the Center for Creative Leadership
(CCL) San Diego campus, Dr. Houston provides expertise on several workplace and personality assessment instruments. In over twenty years at CCL she has closely
collaborated with hundreds of executives and managers across many industries and in both public and private sectors. She provides customized approaches to
motivating and influencing teams, building their competencies and catalyzing innovation, resulting in continuous improvement, accountability and efficiency. She
establishes individual and team development plans, emphasizing communication and innovation in cultivating vision and strategy. She places an emphasis on self-
management tools that include mindfulness and frequent reflections for optimal awareness and a healthy work-life balance. Together these elements promote critical
thinking and productive collaborations leading to insights and effective decisions, driving and supporting teams that perform with exceptional quality and continuous
improvements..

Dr. Houston received a B.A. in Psychology from Birmingham-Southern College and a Ph.D. in Psychology from University of Alabama,Tuscaloosa. She holds a
California Psychology License (# PSY 7406) and a CCE Certification in Executive Leadership Coaching
